DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMAL AC AND INVERTER AC

Air conditioner is a cooling device that works on the principle of compression and expansion of coolant gas. This process is performed with the help of a compressor.

Normal Compressors: In older or non-inverter ACs, the compressors had only on and off function and their speed could not be controlled. That means they could either be made to "on" position or "off" position. This on and off function was controlled with the help of a thermostat sensor.

Inverter compressors on the other hand have electronic controllers that regulate the speed of compression as per the requirements. In such a case, the compressor does not need to be switched off or on, but it keeps running at variable speeds as required. This makes the compressor more silently working and requires less energy as compared to normal compressors.

Conclusion: It is just like running a fan without a regulator. It will either run at full speed or will switch off. Whereas inverter AC is like changing the speed of the fan as per the requirement.

Pros of Inverter AC:

  • Inverter AC consumes less electricity.
  • It is quieter than a normal compressor.
  • Has more life span than normal compressors.

Cons of Inverter AC:

  • It is costlier than normal AC.
  • Unless the AC is not used heavily or the electrical power expense is not that high, it might take up to 6 to 7 years to recover the high upfront expense of an inverter A/C.
