5 THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED WHILE BUYING AIR CONDITIONER

With the summer sun getting angry day by day, the need for Air conditioners is inevitably arising.

While searching for which AC to buy, you would have heard a lot of terms like inverter AC, split AC, Window AC, tonnage, etc.

In this blog, we are going to answer the most frequently asked questions about air conditioners.

  1. AC versus Air Cooler
  2. Split versus Windows AC
  3. Room size and AC capacity,  1 Ton, 1.5 Ton, 2 Ton AC
  4. Inverter compressor versus standard compressor AC
  5. Best AC for Indian Climates

So we will start with simple questions first.

Air Conditioner versus Air Cooler: First of all we must understand the basic difference between the two. An air cooler is a simple device that works on the principle of evaporation of water. The water is pumped over a pad either made of aspen grass or a cellulose material shaped like a honeycomb known as honeycomb pads. These cooling pads retain water in them and when air passes through their pores, it becomes humid and cool.

Air coolers work best in dry and hot climates like in North India from April to June-July till the time monsoon does not arrive.

Under humid conditions, the air cooler is not effective to provide relief and Air Conditioner is definitely required.

Air coolers use a lot of water for cooling, if you are having water scarcity, do not opt for air coolers.

Air Conditioner is a bit complex machine that works on the principle of expansion of liquefied coolant gas. When a compressed coolant gas is allowed to expand through the expansion valve, it releases heat and becomes cool. This cool gas is circulated through the coil of the air conditioner and is compressed again by the compressor. This cycle keeps on repeating and cools down the mesh of the AC.

The air from your room is pulled by the fan unit and passed through the cooling mesh. The air becomes cool and dehumidified. This air keeps on circulating through AC mesh and provides cool and less humid air to the room.

Split versus Windows AC: Most people get confused while making this choice. Simply speaking there is not much difference in the working principles of both of them. They consume almost equal energy and give similar cooling.

The major difference is that in window AC the compressor unit and blower unit are put in a single unit, but in split AC the blower unit is put inside the room, and the compressor unit can be installed far away on the roof or outside the room in open space.
If your room has sufficient space to fit a window AC, then it is best to purchase this one, but in case if there is no space for window AC or your room is quite big requiring an AC of more than 2 Ton, then it is best to have a split AC.

Window ACs are cheaper compared to the split ones and require less maintenance. The installation of window AC is also easy and does not require any structural changes to your home. Split AC on the other hand will require putting wires and ducts through the walls that might require making slits in walls.

How much Ton of AC should I purchase: A ton describes how much heat an AC unit can remove from a room in one hour. Simply speaking, for every 600 sq ft of a closed space, you will need 1 ton of AC

You can check your tonnage requirement through the Blue Star tonnage calculator.

Inverter AC versus Non-Inverter AC: In older ACs, the non-inverter compressors were used. The major difference is that an inverter AC will slow down the compressor motor to save electricity, whereas the non-inverter motor will run at full speed until the room temperature reaches the set temperature.

It is just like you run a fan without a regulator. It will either run at full speed or will switch off. Whereas inverter AC is like changing the speed of the fan as per the requirement.
Inverter AC though saves electricity but is quite expensive to buy. So unless the AC is not used heavily or the electrical power expense is not that high, it might take up to 6 to 7 years to recover the high upfront expense of an inverter A/C.

7 Cheap and Best Fire Safety Equipment for Your Home

Fire accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, be it a high-rise building or a stand-alone cottage in a jungle. It is a common saying that "prevention is better than cure," this fits best in the case of fire accidents.  Fire is indiscriminate and everything is vulnerable to it. The best way is to make arrangements so that we can prevent or at least contain it in a limited area to minimize the damage.  This blog will discuss preventive measures and review some products that can be easily kept and installed in our households to prevent or control such accidents.  Below is a list of important equipment and things for fire safety: Fire Resistant Curtains and Upholstery Smoke Sensors Plastic Fire Extinguisher Ball ABC Type Fire Extinguisher LPG Gas Leak Detector Fire Blanket Fire Insurance 1. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMAL AC AND INVERTER AC

Air conditioner is a cooling device that works on the principle of compression and expansion of coolant gas. This process is performed with the help of a compressor.  Normal Compressors:  In older or non-inverter ACs, the compressors had only on and off function and their speed could not be controlled. That means they could either be made to "on" position or "off" position. This on and off function was controlled with the help of a thermostat sensor.   Inverter compressors on the other hand have electronic controllers that regulate the speed of compression as per the requirements. In such a case, the compressor does not need to be switched off or on, but it keeps running at variable speeds as required. This makes the compressor more silently working and requires less energy as compared to normal compressors.  Conclusion: It is just like running a fan without a regulator. It will either run at full speed or will switch off. Whereas inverter AC is like chang...
